IN THE NAME OF LARGEST DEMOCRACY OF THE WORLD...
THE MEDICS WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO SAVE LIVES, TAKE LIVES
On Sunday morning, Kolkata medical students lynched a man in cold blood at the state-run NRS Medical college over trivial issue of mobile theft. Isn't mobile important than a life these days? With victim's hands and legs tied and mouth gagged, medical students made sure he didn't run away and scream for help and attacked him with bamboo sticks, punches and kicks from all around. Even cops and staffers of the hospital were shocked to see how inhumanly he was tortured and killed and left him lifeless in the balcony. Just imagine, some of them had even slashed on his private parts!
Some laborers working nearby saw the students beating a man mercilessly and immediately alerted the cops but this game with life was all over before they showed up at the scene.
The laborers, the eye witnesses of the murder scene, saw 10-12 students dragging a youth out on third floor in common room and thrashed him up till he there was no life left in him. The victim who had bled profusely from the nose was declared brought dead by the emergency dept of the hospital. However, it is yet to be well established the involvement of junior doctors or MBBS student in the said case.
An inquiry has been ordered into it and an investigation is on to find out what led to his death and who are the killers in the campus responsible for this killing. The hospital committee headed by the principal of the college is expected to submit the report today.
Of late, the mobile thefts occurring in the campus had been put to the knowledge of the principle by the medical students but nothing was done to tackle it. The boarders at the hostel hinted that they had experienced several mobile thievery in past few weeks that describes a lot itself and suggests who could possibly be involved in it.
Can these medics be trusted to serve our society with blood on their hands? Can these feelings less students save any life with murder on their hands in the future? Hasn't the nobility of this great profession gone down the drains these days? I know it very well the entire medical fraternity can not be blamed for this horrific deeds of these few medics but aren't we reading quite often in the news how the medical professionals are losing moral values of service to the society?
