BJP REFUSES TO ACCEPT CRITICISM IN DEMOCRACY WHICH IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF IT...
Doesn't BJP know that the criticism strengthens Democracy?
It appears that any sort of criticism coming against Narendra Modi government's policies will not be tolerated by the center.
On receiving an anonymous complaint, the HRD Ministry had directed IIT-Madreas to ban a discussion forum launched by APSC (Ambedkar Periyar Student Circle) that did not like the policies of Modi Government. It is believed that the students' forum was mobilizing students from Schedule Casts and Schedule Tribes against BJP's policies that propagates Hindi, saffronisation and bans cow slaughter.
On the other hand, the students claimed that they have been denied the right to present their case by the IIT Authorities and have expressed their strong protests against this dictatorial ban on their free speech which is their fundamental right.
In our country, there are several dissent voices in the opposition parties that are critical of ruling government's policies. Will the Center ban opposition as well in its next move in the parliament since they have been disapproving of BJP's policies for past many months now.
In defense, HRD Minister, Smriti Irani has backed her ministry's move and IIT's action because she said some procedures were not followed by the Students' forum. This controversy has offered another opportunity to Congress's vice-president, Rahul Gandhi to attack the ruling government, "FREE SPEECH IS OUR RIGHT. WE WILL FIGHT ANY ATTEMPT TO CRUSH DISSENT AND DEBATE." National Students' Union of India (#NSUI) workers gathered outside Irani's official residence in Delhi and protested with anti-government slogans against this unjustified gag order.
