BCI (BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA) OPENS ITS EYES AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE...
It appears that the fake degree case of Lawyer Jitendra Tomar who could not even recognize his college where he claimed had studied, has opened the eyes of Bar Council of India eventually. Every now & then we read and hear about degrees, certificates, credentials & important documents scams through newspapers and news channels taking places almost in every State of India though Bihar & MP seem to be two main epicentres of this thriving fraudulent business where such cases keep pouring in from.
There is no shred of doubt that fake degrees scams have been flourishing in this country for decades. All you need is some extra dough (money) to get almost anything fixed if you need to be a doctor, teacher, IPS or IAS officer in this country. It's all there for you on a platter if you show them the green color of your money. Can such people who obtain fake certificates contribute in any way to the growth and development of this country and help innocent people get justice?
No less than a national shock!
Recently, at a Lawyers Meet, 2015 in Chennai, Senior Advocate, the chairman of Bar Council of India, has revealed that about 30% lawyers in our country are holding fraudulent degrees. According to his rough estimation there are about 20% of such lawyers that are practising in our lower and high courts without valid certification. Subsequently, the Council that is empowered to take errant lawyers to task has geared up to weed them out of the judicial system who have degraded the quality of the profession. This filtration through first-ever verification exercise would help in the removal of bad and non-practising lawyers from rolls of the bar associations who often go on strike and indulge in boycotts over petty issues in various courts bringing disrepute to this profession.
Can this transpire anywhere else on this earth?

Better late than never!
Though, after independence, this is the first major step (with verification rules being implemented in all State except Karnataka and Kerala because of high courts' strange interim orders) towards this kind of purification to comb out the bad elements from our judicial system.

In response to this credentials verification, the former judge of Madras high court Justice K Chandru remarked that it is going to be a daunting task for us to verify every advocate's testimonials. To me it looks like, it might consume months even years as India is known to be running at snail pace especially in judicial field with dispensation of justices in years, decades at times.
